Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Council based in Sussex, who are looking to appoint a Housing Options Officer on a temporary basis for 6 months.

This will be a full-time position with a negotiable rate.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years as a Housing Options Officer, a full UK licence and a Basic DBS.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing timely advice, early intervention, and practical solutions to individuals and families at risk of homelessness
  • Assessing homelessness applications under relevant legislation, determining prevention duties, and delivering tailored housing options to meet client needs
  • Building effective relationships with relevant stakeholders to prevent eviction, sustaining tenancies, and mediating where disputes arise
  • Supporting housing schemes (e.g. Deposit Guarantee, Rent in Advance), maintaining accurate case records, and assisting in data analysis and reporting
  • Keeping up to date with housing law, benefits, and policy changes, ensuring best practice and compliance in homelessness prevention activities

Experience required:

  • Minimum of 3 years as a Homeless Prevention Officer
