Job description

We are currently partnering with a leading West Midlands based social housing provider, who are recruiting for a Finance Assistant to join their team on a permanent basis.

This is a full-time, fully office-based position in Erdington with a salary of £28,000. The start date is dependent on notice.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

·         Assisting in delivering accounting functions in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Credit Control, Rent Income and Bank and any other adhoc duties

·         Maintaining robust financial processes, ensuring a strong audit trail for all transactions

·         Processing transactions within agreed time scales

·         Working to be flexible to meet all deadlines

·         Providing cover during other colleague absence where necessary

·         Working with and creating a culture of delivery and process improvement

·         Ensuring accuracy in processing of transactional data

·         Ensuring good quality process notes for all processes

·         Assisting in year-end audit work

·         Responsible for working within appropriate policies in areas of responsibility, in line with current legislation and best practice

·         Ensuring efficient and effective filing and information systems

·         Working within agreed set Service Level Agreements

·         Dealing with queries effectively, liaising with outside agencies and colleagues

Experience required:

·         Minimum three years’ experience within a finance position, preferably within Sales Ledger or Purchase Ledger

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

·         Understanding double entry to ensure transactions are posted correctly across multiple systems

·         Sound knowledge of Excel (VLOOKUPs & pivot tables) and other MS packages

·         Exceptional organisation and communication skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines

Working hours:

·         37 hours per week

·         Monday – Friday with flexible working hours
