Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Housing Association based in Devon, who are recruiting for a Development Manager on a temporary basis.

The position is due to start immediately, with the potential to go full time. The daily rate of pay is negotiable up to £400 a day (Via an Umbrella Company).

The ideal candidate will have experience managing the full development cycle from land acquisition to sign off and will be based locally to Devon.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Delivering the annual development programme on time, within budget and against agreed KPIs

  • Managing development projects from land acquisition through planning, design, procurement and construction

  • Identifying and securing suitable land and property opportunities for development

  • Assessing financial viability, negotiating development proposals and presenting programmes to senior management and board members

  • Procuring and managing consultants, contractors and project teams involved in development delivery

  • Overseeing planning, technical design, quality and compliance across development projects

  • Working in partnership with local authorities, Homes England and external stakeholders on development initiatives

  • Monitoring budgets, risks and project performance to ensure effective programme delivery

  • Managing and developing the development team, including project managers, clerks of works and support staff

  • Producing reports and analysis to support strategic decision making and programme monitoring

What we're looking for:

  • Strong experience delivering housing development projects within housing associations, local authorities or development organisations

  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary development teams and external contractors

  • Knowledge of planning, procurement, construction and development finance

  • Strong leadership, project management and stakeholder engagement skills

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week

  • Monday - Friday, Flexible daily hours

  • 2 days on site/office
