Job description

Our client, based in North Yorkshire, is currently recruiting for a Housing Officer on a 6-month temporary contract, starting next week.

The working hours are 37.00 hours per week, 9am-5pm and offers flexibility around 8am-4pm. The hourly rate for this position is negotiable up to £22.50 per hour via an Umbrella Company.

The ideal candidate will hold a basic DBS taken out within the last year and also have access to their own vehicle.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Responding to customer enquiries relating to their tenancies such as relationship breakdown, request to exchange property with another tenant and succession queries

  • Completing estate walkabout to ensure they are well maintained and looked after

  • Responding promptly to reports of ASB within the agreed service standards and take the lead for dealing with ASB issues on the patch.

  • Identifying any areas for environmental improvement works in partnership with colleagues in the Property Services

  • Ensuring properties are let promptly and efficiently when they become void through effective communications with the Choice Based Lettings team (CBL) and colleagues in the Property Services

  • Identifying the need for additional support including financial support and provide advice and guidance regarding welfare benefits and universal credit

  • Working in partnership with other agencies including the DWP, local councils, support agencies, NHS and the voluntary sector to improve working practices, service delivery and the maximisation of income for our customers

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Communicate well both verbally and in writing

  • Work well under pressure, assess priorities and meet targets

  • Use Microsoft Office software as well as a computerised housing management, repair and property database
