Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Housing Association based in Luton who are recruiting for a Support Worker on a permanent contract. The position is due to start immediately and is a full-time role. The salary is £24,000.00 - £26,000.00 per annum depending upon experience.

The ideal candidate will have similar support experience within a mother and baby hostel, be willing to get an Enhanced DBS carried out, drive and have access to their own vehicle.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Working with approximately eight service users within the mother and baby unit and the all-female hostel
  • You’ll carry out assessments of new customers, devise and implement support plans and risk management plans
  • Conduct regular coaching sessions and support the Service Managers
  • Participate in group and one to one intervention with customers of a specialist nature (e.g. CT informed interventions, motivational interviewing or harm minimisation interventions) where possible
  • Participate in reflective practice sessions with regards to supporting customers with complex needs
  • Signpost service users to external support agencies
  • Supporting colleagues to influence and bring about positive change to the customers behaviour

Experience required:

  • Experience required in Social Housing
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding protocols
  • Similar support experience
  • Conducting Health and Safety checks
  • Signposting to external support agencies

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Previous experience within social housing as a Support Worker or similar
  • Strong understanding of a mother and babies needs
  • Access to own vehicle and a valid driving license

Working hours:

  • 37.50 hours per week
  • Monday – Sunday, Shift Patterns between 7:00am – 3:00pm, 11:00am – 7:00pm, 9:30am – 5:30pm
  • One weekend in four
