Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Housing Association based in Essex, who are recruiting for a Building Surveyor on a permanent contract. The salary for the role is up to £46,000 per annum dependent on experience.

The ideal candidate will have experience of all-round surveying, have access to a vehicle and ideally have used the Northgate system.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • To undertake surveys relating to responsive repairs, void properties and stock condition, Disrepair claims and programmed planned revenue works such as painting programmes.

  • To undertake various one-off projects when required including feasibility studies, specifications, on site surveys, on site supervision and also preparation of quotes.

  • To pre-inspect and post inspect responsive repairs, investigate and respond to residents’ complaints and carry out Energy Performance surveys in order to produce the required certificate.

  • To undertake when required surveys and inspections relating to the Housing Health and

  • Safety Rating System (HHSRS)

Experience required:

  • Experience of working in a similar environment

  • Experience in a construction or maintenance

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Familiarity with inspection of buildings, including work in progress and completed

  • Working knowledge of Section 11 of the Landlord & Tenant Act 1985 in relation to Disrepair claims and pre action protocols

  • Familiarity with Building Surveys and regulations

  • Working Knowledge of responsive maintenance
