Job description

A leading Wealth Management firm based in the West Midlands is seeking a Technical Trainer to join their expanding team on a permanent basis in a newly created role.

This full‑time role offers a competitive salary of £55,000-£60,000, 2 days home working, and the chance to design, create and deliver a suite of training packages.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Delivering high‑quality, engaging technical training on core financial planning topics including pensions, investments, protection, taxation and estate planning

  • Leading induction training for new advisers, trainee advisers and paraplanners, ensuring full understanding of advice processes and regulatory expectations.

  • Designing and updating training materials such as presentations, guidance notes, case studies, eLearning modules and assessments

  • Ensuring all training content is accurate, compliant and aligned with FCA regulations, suitability standards and internal policies

  • Acting as a subject matter expert for financial planning concepts, tax legislation, FCA rules and technical product knowledge

  • Monitoring regulatory changes and provide insights to the wider business on impacts to advice processes

  • Partnering with T&C, Risk, Advice Quality and Root Cause Analysis teams to identify learning needs and close technical knowledge gaps

  • Delivering remedial or targeted training following audit findings, regulatory feedback or identified performance issues

  • Assessing learner progress through tests, role plays, case studies and live observations, providing structured, developmental feedback

Experience/Qualifications required:

  • Qualified to Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (DipPFS) or equivalent

  • Deep technical expertise across core financial planning disciplines, including pensions, investments, protection and taxation

  • Proven track record in delivering high‑quality training and coaching within regulated financial services environments

  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with experience engaging audiences through virtual, digital and in‑person delivery

  • Skilled in designing effective, learner‑centred training programmes tailored to varying levels of knowledge and experience

  • Comprehensive understanding of FCA regulations, suitability requirements and end‑to‑end advice processes

  • Talent for translating complex technical concepts into clear, practical and accessible learning content
