Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority based in the West Midlands, who are looking to appoint a Childcare Safeguarding Lawyer on an initial 3-month locum basis.

This will be a full-time position offering remote working; however the successful candidate will be required to attend court hearings in West Midlands as required.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience within Childcare Law, and specifically a background within Local Government.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Handling a varied caseload of childcare safeguarding matters on behalf of the Council, advising and representing the Council to relevant stakeholders

  • Conducting court hearings on behalf of the Council as required on children’s services cases

  • Hearings are varied, ranging from directions hearings, to contested hearings

  • Drafting orders and relevant documentation, and attending advocate meetings and other meetings at times

Experience required:

  • Experience required in Childcare Law

  • Experience within Local Government

Working hours:

  • 35 hours per week

  • Monday – Friday
