Job description

Our client, based in North London, is currently recruiting for a Clerk of Works/Quality Manager on a permanent contract.

The position is due to start as soon as possible on a full-time basis. The salary is £55,000 per annum + 5% bonuses (related to performance)

The ideal candidate will have a CSCS card and having a membership of CIAT, CIOB or ICWCI is an advantage.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Scrutinise drawings and specifications of designated projects
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager and Technical Manager, liaise with the Property Services and Housing Management teams on any technical issues that have scheme management or maintenance implications
  • Attend meetings during the development of the design
  • Attend the monthly on-site Progress Meetings to report on progress and quality control matters
  • Carry out standard setting, Key Stage, Pre-closeup, functional and Snagging Inspections
  • Contribute to the management of latent and other problematic defects by providing a high level of technical input and advice
  • Liaise with Technical and Quality Team on workload and agree distribution of time across projects

Experience required:

  • Understanding of both the current and emerging regulatory regime in respect of Building Regulations and Building Safety for residential construction
  • Experience of auditing design and construction information prior to commencement of works
  • Experience of inspecting construction projects at all stages of construction from demolition/site clearance to handover including standard setting, pre[1]close up, pre-strike, functional and snagging inspections

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Ability to make concise factual reports both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the aspirations of tenants and leaseholders and be committed to meeting these wherever possible
  • Ability to read and interpret design and fabrication drawings and specifications
