Job description
r client, a Council based in Gloucestershire, is  currently recruiting for a Principal Auditor on a permanent contract.
The position is available on a full time, hybrid basis  with flexible requirements on office presence and other great benefits including annual leave starting at 24 days and a competitive pension contribution. The salary for this role will be £48,226 - £51,356.
The ideal candidate will be qualified and have a background in public sector audit. 
Duties will include  (but are not limited to): 
- Leading on, and taking responsibility for, the effective delivery of audit plans 
- Ascertaining areas of high risk and developing the risk based audit plan for own specialist/portfolio area for inclusion in the overall annual audit plans 
- Developing, leading, and managing audit reviews, including Value for Money (VFM), Consultancy, fraud and special investigations 
- Undertaking high level and complex audit and consultancy assignments, ensuring that all audit processes formally agreed by the Head of the Shared Service are consistently followed and applied 
- Producing written reports at the completion of an assignment/audit which clearly present issues, conclusions and make recommendations for improvement if necessary 
- Providing strategic and operational internal control advice to officers, members, external clients and partner organisations to assist in the management of the governance, risk and control environment 
- Managing, planning, controlling and providing appropriate challenge to the work undertaken by Senior Auditors 
Experience required:
- Background in public sector/council audit is desirable 
- CCAB/IIA qualification is also desirable

Working hours:
- 37 hours per week 
- Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm (flexible)
