Job description
We are currently partnering with a Housing Association based in Hertfordshire, who are recruiting a Major Works Surveyor to join their growing team on a 3–4-month temporary basis.
This is a full-time position with a rate that is flexible subject to experience, and they want to interview and start the successful candidate as soon as possible.
This is a hybrid role, a basic DBS and a full UK driving license will be an essential requirement for the position.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Manage and deliver the Major Works Programme, overseeing projects such as window and roofing replacements, subsidence works, major damp remediation, structural repairs, door entry systems, CCTV, and fire alarm installations, from inception through to completion
Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including HHSRS, Decent Homes standards, and all relevant health and safety legislation, ensuring works meet required quality and safety standards
Support the delivery of high-quality building services and maintenance to social housing properties, ensuring outcomes align with organisational standards, resident expectations, and best practice
Conduct detailed property surveys to identify defects, assess building condition, and inform the scope, specification, and prioritisation of major works projects
Manage projects end-to-end, coordinating consultants and contractors to ensure works are delivered safely, within agreed timescales and budgets, and to required quality standards
Experience required:
Working with service charges and budgets, including calculations and apportionments
Understanding of risk and risk management strategies
Experience within social housing
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and influence
Excellent time management and organisational skills
Able to manage and delegate resources effectively
