Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Social Housing Provider in Preston, who are recruiting for a Maintenance Surveyor on a three month contract.

This is an urgent fill, but the client is happy to wait for notice periods if required. The hourly rate on offer is up to £35 per hour, paid through an Umbrella company.

The ideal candidate will have experience dealing with reactive maintenance within a Social Housing provider, as well as access to their own vehicle.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Carrying out detailed property inspections, specifically focused on reactive maintenance
  • Completing circa five surveys a day, depending on complexity of the surveys on a given day
  • Diagnosing property defects including identifying causes of damp and mould
  • Overseeing repair programmes from instruction through to completion, ensuring compliance and high-quality outcomes
  • Liaising with tenants, contractors, and internal teams to ensure timely communication and customer satisfaction
  • Maintaining accurate inspection records and updating internal systems
  • Providing technical advice to colleagues and assisting with health & safety compliance

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in property surveying or asset management
  • Strong knowledge of DMC and disrepair legislation, including Awaab's Law and the Housing Health & Safety Rating System
  • HNC or NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent) in Building Services, Construction, or related discipline
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle

Working hours:

  • 37.0 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday, Flexible Start/Finish Times
