Job description
We are currently partnering with a local authority based in Central-Southern England, who are recruiting for a Business Partnering Accountant to join their team on a six month temporary basis.
This is a full-time position with an hourly rate band of £34.73 - £36.93 via an Umbrella company and the start date is ASAP dependant on notice. There is hybrid working available with two days required in the office based in Oxford per month.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
· Delivering the existing Medium Term Financial Strategy (MTFS) within supported areas, considering implications over the medium term and linking current year events to future consequences
· Engaging across the organisation with other parts of the finance business partnering function, performance, and commercial teams to have an overview of the financial position and relevant national context for the areas supported
· Supporting financial planning by providing insights, completing work to identify financial implications and producing analysis for decision-making
· Understanding and communicating financial risks and opportunities, providing assurance on information and producing accurate forecasts based on data
· Offering advice on financial management, supporting good practices, managing cost centre hierarchies and ensuring reports provide key information for effective financial management
· Assisting in creating business cases for capital programmes, reviewing out-of-tolerance reports and ensuring financial implications are communicated
· Overseeing the creation and review of business cases for grant funding, ensuring grant returns are reviewed and highlighting the utilisation of grant to ensure compliance with terms and timeframes
· Supporting financial decision-making processes, ensuring information is accurate and reliable for decision-makers and collaborating on capital funding and financing
Skills and experience required:
· Extensive local government experience
· Recent experience working within Education finance
· Qualified/part qualified/QBE is desirable (ACCA/CIMA)
Working hours:
· 37 hours per week
· Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
