Job description
Are you a meticulous and dedicated health & safety specialist who has a passion for safety management and ensuring legal and regulatory compliance!
James Andrews are proud to be partnering with a leading not-for-profit employer, who are now looking to appoint a Health & Safety Advisor on a temporary contract until the end of February. This will be a full-time position based in Bedfordshire, with hybrid working offered alongside a competitive rate of pay.
The ideal candidate will have a NEBOSH general certificate or equivalent, and practical health and safety experience, ideally within the social housing sector.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Working alongside the Health & Safety Lead to ensure that all services and properties remain compliant to relevant legislation and standards
Maintaining and managing the organisations health and safety management system ensuring that it meets the needs of the business and promotes best practice
Carrying out investigations into incidents relating to staff and residents and attend home and site visits where required
Conducting regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented
Maintaining all necessary records and carrying out audits to ensure staff are being compliant with H&S policies and procedures i.e. asbestos and electrical management
Updating internal reporting system with inspections and risk assessments, including any actions
Liaising with contractors to ensure statutory servicing requirements are completed
Carrying out H&S training courses for staff where required each month
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety legislation, guidance and best practice
Experience of undertaking health and safety risk assessments, including COSHH Assessments
Experience of conducting accidents, incidents and near miss investigations
Qualifications
Professional qualification in Health and Safety (minimum NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent), or practical health and safety experience in the maintenance and repair sector with willingness to complete a NEBOSH General Certificate Qualification
Level 3 NVQ in Occupational Health and Safety Practices
Working hours:
37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Hybrid working offered (3 days WFH as a minimum)
