Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Housing Association based in the Midlands, who are recruiting for a Head of Rents on a permanent contract. The start date is dependant on notice, and the salary on offer is between £65,072-£72,302. It is a hybrid role, with travel required to the office every Thursday.

The ideal candidate will ideally be a Qualified Accountant, have excellent knowledge of rent legislation, and the ability to travel to addresses within the Group’s geography and attend conferences as required.

Duties will include (but arenot limited to):

·         Managing the Rents Team; providing direction, coaching and management to support direct reports with their objectives

·         Holding regular team meetings to focus on delivering team action plans and to promote Group wide performance and activities

·         Providing a strategic lead to the Group for Rents to allow the Board to manage risk, long term capacity and resident satisfaction

·         Providing a modern financial service for all rent charges and rent related areas for all tenures

·         Planning, setting, monitoring and effectively managing relevant budgets for the team, in line with delegated authority guidelines and financial standing orders

·         Ensuring that value for money principles are applied to any purchases, made by you, the wider team or budget holders and maximise efficiencies wherever possible

·         Supporting the Director of Rent and Service Charges to provide planned/scheduled and ad hoc updates, reports and training to Board, Committees, ET, SLT and operational levels in the business

·         Liaising with internal and external auditors on audit work

·         Promoting innovation across the Group by developing and delivering initiatives to support this

·         Researching, developing and making recommendations in relation to improving the Rent service for the Group

 Experience required:

·         Extensive experience in managing complex rents products in a regulated environment

·         Significant experience of leading a rents team managing complex accounts

·         Demonstrable experience accounting in a large and complex organisation with substantial rent budgets, with an understanding of service charges

 Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

·         Detailed knowledge, experience and understanding of rent legislation for all tenures, including the Rent Standard and to include Rent Convergence

·         Experience and knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework relevant to the role, including associated returns

·         Well-developed business management skills and understanding of delivering an excellent customer-based service in a complex organisation with both social and commercial activities

·         Detailed knowledge and understanding of Accounting Standards
