Job description

We are currently partnering with a Local Authority, who are recruiting for an Education Lawyer on a rolling 3-mionth locum basis.

They are happy to negotiate rates with interested candidates based on their experience but are looking to pay c. £50.00 to £55.00 via an umbrella company.

You must be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister, with previous advocacy experience to apply for this role.

 

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing expert legal advice, representation, and case management on matters relating to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

  • Providing advocacy in Courts, Tribunals, Public Inquiries, and other venues as require, as well as helping clients to select a barrister and instructing where necessary

  • Taking the clients’ instructions and advising clients on the advantages or disadvantages of courses of action with a full understanding of the legal consequences

  • Conducting research and analysing information such as legal precedents

  • Maintaining correspondence with clients and solicitors representing other parties

  • Preparing statements, reports, contracts and other legal documents

  • Preparing and checking papers for cases (e.g. for courts)

  • Negotiating with clients and other professionals to secure agreed objectives

  • Delegating work to Trainees, Legal Officers or administrative staff as appropriate

  • Ensuring necessary administration, including billing, is completed

 

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week

  • Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
