Job description
We are proud to be partnering with a highly successful multi-academy trust, who are looking to appoint a Head of Finance starting in January 2026 until March 2026 on a fixed-term contract.
This will be a full-time position based in London, that requires being on site everyday (although hybrid working is offered out of term time), with a salary of£50,000 per annum.
The ideal candidate must have experience in the Education sector and be willing to have an enhanced DBS check carried out.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Work closely with the CEO and senior leaders to support the Trust’s educational aims and strategic development
Lead on financial strategy, including annual budgets and the Trust’s 5-year financial plan
Monitor and control financial performance, producing clear, timely reports and forecasts
Ensure effective financial systems, controls and compliance with DfE, ESFA and statutory requirements
Act as the main contact for internal and external auditors and oversee internal control processes
Lead, manage and develop Trust finance staff
Oversee payroll, cash flow, financial returns and accurate record keeping
Maximise income through grants, lettings and other funding opportunities
Use benchmarking to drive efficiency and value for money across the Trust
Work with the Operations Manager to negotiate contracts and manage insurance and legal matters
Track and report on Pupil Premium expenditure and impact
Build external and commercial partnerships that deliver educational benefit
Attend and contribute to senior leadership and Trust meetings
Maintain the highest standards of professionalism, literacy and numeracy
Experience required:
Experience required in Education sector is strongly desirable
Line management experience is strongly desirable as this role manages one Finance Officer
ACCA / CIMA qualification is desirable however if you are a QBE candidate you will need strong Education experience
Systems required:
Experience with Excel; Vlookups, summifs, Pivot Tables

Working hours:
35 hours per week
Monday – Friday, 8am-4pm
Hybrid working is available out of term time and school holidays
