Job description

Our client, a social housing provider based in Bath, is currently recruiting for a Governance Manager on a 12 month fixed-term contract.

The position is due to start in the New Year on a full-time basis, and they are looking for someone to attend office minimum of once p/week. The salary on offer is circa £50,000 per annum

The ideal candidate will have at least two years governance experience in a regulated environment, and experience providing executive and secretariat support at board level. 

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Acting as a key point of contact for Board and Committee members

  • Managing and developing the Governance Assistant and the Executive Assistant(s), fostering a culture of high standards, accountability and continuous improvement, ensuring that the Board and Committees are properly serviced

  • Preparing reports on governance and other matters as requested by the Assistant Director of Governance and the General Counsel & Group Company Secretary

  • Acting as Secretary to key governance forums, including the Combined Board and/or subsidiary boards, and Committees of the Board, ensuring timely, accurate and well-structured papers and minutes

  • Leading on the coordination and delivery of the Group's annual ESG report, and otherwise for corporate reporting (such as the Modern Slavery Statement)

  • Taking responsibility for all corporate registers and Governance-related policy and processes (including training for colleagues re the same), ensuring they are up-to-date and fit for purpose

Experience required:

  • Experience required in a regulated environment

  • Sound understanding of company secretarial and governance practices, with strong drafting and minute-taking skills

  • Excellent communication skills, including listening and questioning and an ability to summarise

 Working hours:

  • 37.5 hours per week

  • Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm
