Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Social Housing provider based in West Yorkshire, who are recruiting for a Fire Officer on a temporary three-month contract. The role offers a rate of £350 - £400 per day via an umbrella company, depending on experience.

The ideal candidate is a proactive fire safety professional with experience in residential properties, strong expertise in risk assessment and compliance, confidence in delivering training, a basic DBS certificate (or willing to obtain one), and a full UK driving licence.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Conducting regular fire risk assessments across residential properties to identify hazards, assess risks to occupants, and ensure compliance with fire safety regulations
  • Carrying out detailed inspections of fire doors, escape routes, and other critical fire safety features to ensure proper maintenance and compliance with current standards
  • Reviewing and updating fire safety policies and procedures to align with legislation, guidance, and best practice for social housing
  • Providing fire safety training and awareness sessions for tenants, property management staff, and maintenance teams
  • Collaborating with contractors and maintenance teams to oversee the installation, repair, and maintenance of fire safety equipment

Experience and Expertise required:

  • Proven experience conducting fire risk assessments and inspections in residential properties, with strong knowledge of fire safety regulations and standards
  • Expertise in assessing and maintaining critical fire safety features, including fire doors, escape routes, alarms, sprinklers, and emergency lighting
  • Experience developing, reviewing, and implementing fire safety policies and procedures in line with current legislation and best practice
  • Ability to deliver fire safety training and guidance to staff, tenants, and contractors, promoting awareness and compliance across teams

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm
