Job description
We are currently partnering with a leading educational body based in Birmingham, who are recruiting for a Senior Finance Officer (Management Accountant) to join their team on a permanent basis.
This is a full-time position with a salary band of £38,000 to £44,000 per annum (subject to experience) and is due to start as soon as possible, subject to notice period.
This role will operate on a hybrid basis, with three days per week based on-site in the office and two days working from home.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Advising budget holders and senior managers on financial management, forecasts and variances
Identifying and implementing process improvements for efficiency and transparency
Leading audits, maintaining financial integrity, and ensuring compliance with regulations
Providing finance and accounancy support for departments and projects
Supporting payroll processes, statutory returns, and project costing
Producing accurate, timely manegement information and financial reports
Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders on funding, reporting, and compliance
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
Experience providing finance support to senior managers
Part-qualified accountant (CCAB recognised) or equivalent experience
Strong Excel and IT skills; experience with financial systems
Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines with accuracy
Higher education finance experience and knowledge of external grant funding processes is desirable
