Damp and Mould Surveyor
Job description
Are you a meticulous and organised Damp & Mould Surveyor who has the experience to oversee the damp and mould management process, ensuring full compliance with Awaab's Law.
James Andrews are proud to be partnering with a leading not-for-profit employer who are now looking to appoint a Damp & Mould Surveyor on a temporary contract until the end of March 2026. This will be a full-time position based in Buckinghamshire, with hybrid working offered alongside a competitive daily rate.
The ideal candidate will lead on the investigation, diagnosis and management of damp and mould cases within the housing stock, ensuring timely, high quality and customer focused resolution.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Leading on the investigation, diagnosis and management of damp and mould cases within the company's housing stock, ensuring timely, high quality and customer focused resolution
Overseeing the damp and mould process from initial report through inspection, analysis, remedial planning and monitoring
Undertaking detailed damp, mould and condensation inspections, providing clear technical advice, root cause analysis and recommendations for remedial action
Overseeing the damp and mould case process from referral through to resolution, coordinating with the Property Inspector, contractors and other stakeholders, to ensure works are completed effectively and within agreed timescales
Carrying out or commissioning specialist investigations (e.g. thermal imaging, moisture readings, ventilation assessments) where required
Preparing technical reports and specifications of work, ensuring appropriate remedial strategies are designed, costed and approved
Acting as the Contract Administrator for assigned damp and mould related works, monitoring performance, quality, budget and compliance with relevant regulations
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
Formal qualifications (such as HNC in Building Surveying, or CIOB), or equivalent experience in building surveying, property maintenance or a related field
In-depth understanding of building pathology, damp diagnosis techniques and relevant legislation and standards (e.g. HHSRS, Building Regulations, Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act)
Working hours:
37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm
Hybrid working offered (flexible and able to manage own diaries)
