Our client, based in Essex, is currently recruiting for a FULLY REMOTE Council Tax Officer on a 6-month temporary contract.

The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis. The hourly rate is negotiable, up to £25 p/h via an Umbrella Company, based on experience for this position.

The ideal candidate will have experience using the Civica system, have previous experience collecting council tax for a local authority and be available to start on a week’s notice.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Dealing with enquiries face to face, via email and over the phone, providing an excellent customer service at all times

• Calculating rent, council tax and business rates, ensuring all information provided to clients is accurate and up to date

• Identifying and recovering arrears relating to rents or council tax, maximising income for the organisation at all times

• Sending bills and reminders, taking legal action, preparing paperwork and attending court when required

• Carrying out home and business visits with residents to discuss any concerns and negotiate suitable repayment plans

• Maintaining and keeping accurate and up to date records on all actions, recording full details and outcome

Experience required:

• Experience required in calculating and collection council tax

• Experience using the Civica system
