Job description
We are currently partnering with a leading Housing Association, who are recruiting for a Building Safety Officer to join their growing team on a permanent basis.
Our client is proud to provide more than 10,000 affordable homes in 15 local authority areas in Kent and Sussex.
This is a full-time position with a salary of £28,961 per annum and the start date is subject to notice.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Undertake quality inspections of building safety and compliance works to ensure jobs are carried out to the standard required across all housing stock
Interpret findings from technical surveys across a range of contracts and take appropriate action
Work closely with the contractors to ensure all properties are 100% compliant each month on all fire safety and services contracts i.e., fire risk assessments, emergency lighting, fire alarms and communal smoke detection
Actively participate in contractor meetings, challenging underperformance using your technical knowledge and your knowledge of the contract
Take ownership on resolving health and safety concerns raised by staff, residents, contractors, or other third parties – seeing the resolution through to conclusion and ensuring ‘near misses’ or ‘lessons learned’ are fed back and embedded to improve our services
Actively work towards achieving value for money on all contracts by ensuring programmes deliver works efficiently and within budget; collaborating with planned and cyclical maintenance teams at every opportunity
Experience required:
Proven experience and ability to deliver excellent customer care
Previous experience within social housing in a similar role
Building trade background an advantage
Experience of report writing and presenting
Experience of a health and safety compliance environment
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
Undertaking quality inspections as part of building safety and compliance services
Management of contractors to achieve performance targets
Promoting health, safety and well-being in construction
Production of KPIs relating to safety
Compiling data relating to compliance
Engagement with residents and proven customer service skills

Working hours:
36 hours per week
Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
