Job description
We are currently partnering with a Dorset based Local Authority, who are recruiting for a Property Acquisition Officer to join their team on a temporary basis for a minimum of three months.
This is a full-time position with an hourly rate of £25 - £30 via an Umbrella company and the start date is subject to notice.
The ideal candidate for this role will have a Basic DBS, as well as recent experience In Property Acquisition and Lease reviews/ renewals.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Identifying properties to purchase, with a focus on location, type and size of property, to be used to tackle homelessness
Working alongside existing landlords to provide leased accommodation for homeless households
Overseeing all of the renovation on recently purchased and leased properties and ensuring value for money for both the council and licensees
Working closely with Housing Teams to ensure adherence with type, size, location and where possible with LHA/HB rates
Supporting with the development of new systems to track assets, leases and management agreements
Coordinating negotiations with property owners, landlords and agents
Working alongside the Empty Homes team, to explore and promote opportunities to purchase vacant properties
Ensuring all council properties/private sector leased properties are in adherence with compliance and health & safety standards
Experience required:
Experience working within Local Authorities
Experience in lease renewals/ reviews and property acquisition
