Job description

​We are currently partnering with a Dorset based Local Authority, who are recruiting for a Property Acquisition Officer to join their team on a temporary basis for a minimum of three months.

This is a full-time position with an hourly rate of £25 - £30 via an Umbrella company and the start date is subject to notice.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a Basic DBS, as well as recent experience In Property Acquisition and Lease reviews/ renewals.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Identifying properties to purchase, with a focus on location, type and size of property, to be used to tackle homelessness

  • Working alongside existing landlords to provide leased accommodation for homeless households

  • Overseeing all of the renovation on recently purchased and leased properties and ensuring value for money for both the council and licensees

  • Working closely with Housing Teams to ensure adherence with type, size, location and where possible with LHA/HB rates

  • Supporting with the development of new systems to track assets, leases and management agreements

  • Coordinating negotiations with property owners, landlords and agents

  • Working alongside the Empty Homes team, to explore and promote opportunities to purchase vacant properties

  • Ensuring all council properties/private sector leased properties are in adherence with compliance and health & safety standards

Experience required:

  • Experience working within Local Authorities

  • Experience in lease renewals/ reviews and property acquisition
