We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority based in Devon, who are recruiting for a Health and Safety Officer x2 on a three-month basis.

The position is due to start immediately, with the potential to go full time. The hourly rate of pay is negotiable up to £27.00 per hour.

The ideal candidate will a strong background in health & safety within a public sector or operational environment, confident in inspections, audits and stakeholder engagement

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Providing advice and guidance on health & safety legislation, policy and best practice
• Carrying out inspections, audits and investigations to ensure compliance
• Supporting risk management processes, including COSHH, PPE, PUWER and incident reporting
• Delivering training such as toolbox talks and workshops
• Monitoring compliance systems (e.g. AssessNET) and reporting on performance
• Supporting policy and procedure development across H&S functions
• Preparing reports and briefings for managers and stakeholders
• Providing asbestos-related advice and supporting workplace safety assessments where required

Experience required:

• Experience working within the local authority environment
• Experience providing guidance on health and safety
• Experience delivering toolbox talks

Working hours:

• 37 hours per week
• Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm
