Our client, a Local Authority in Devon, is currently recruiting for a Head Accountant (Adult Social Care) on a three month initial contract with hybrid working (2/3 days per week in the office).

The position is due to start ASAP, dependent on notice and the daily rate is negotiable dependent on experience.

The ideal candidate will have a background in Local Authority finance, specifically within Adult Social Care and will be Qualified or QBE.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Managing annual budget preparation process, medium term financial strategy, budget monitoring and year end close down to ensure integrity of accounts
• Providing strategic advice surrounding gross revenue budgets of up to £750m
• Ensuring all financial information, accounts and budgets are produced and reported and comply with all financial legislation
• Developing and extending the services currently provided and exploring new areas of financial support services
• Providing financial advice, direction setting and financial management support to staff within relevant service area
• Representing finance at scrutiny and other committee meetings
• Improving and enhancing the efficiency of automated budget preparation, monitoring and accounts close down processes
• Managing and directing staff in all aspects of their work, ensuring sufficient training

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

• Background in Local Authority finance, specifically Adult Social Care
• Qualified/QBE

Working hours:

• 37 hours per week
• Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm
