Job description
We are currently working in partnership with an award-winning Social Housing provider, based in the Midlands, who are looking to appoint a Fire Safety Consultant on a temporary six-to-12-month contract.
This will be a full-time position with hybrid working (2/3 days home working) and a daily rate of £300 - £350 per day, outside of IR35.
The ideal candidate will have extensive fire safety experience and knowledge, specifically within the Social Housing sector.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Managing contractors, ensuring high levels of compliance, and delivering fire safety initiatives
Holding accountability for the Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) programme, including the validation of the associated risks and that these are managed and escalated appropriately
Ensuring all FRA actions and remedial fire safety works following the completion of the FRA are managed and completed in accordance with set targets and specifications
Proactively managing appointed consultants regarding delivery of fire risk assessments (FRA), ensuring all risk assessments are suitable and sufficient and are being undertaken to the agreed standard and that all new buildings are subject to an FRA prior to and at occupation
Managing a flat entrance door programme in relation to regulation 10, bringing forward the annual reinspection’s
Experience required:
Experience of managing external FRA contractors
Knowledge and recent experience within Social Housing
Experience of conducting fire risk assessments in a wide range of premises
Ability to use fire safety guidance documents, British Standards, and approved documents
Adept in use of MS Office suite and internet
Experience of online platforms, cloud-based systems and tablets
The client is looking for someone who is passionate about fire safety and providing professional well written reports
Qualifications required:
Member Grade of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers - MIFSM
Member of the Fire Protection Association
W05 Certificate in Fire Risk Assessment – Fire Protection Association (FPA)
NEBOSH National General Fire Safety & Risk Management Certificate
FC2 Fire Sprinkler Systems CPD Training Certificate - British automatic fire sprinkler association (bafsa)
Westminster Building Regulations & Fire Safety Conference CPD October 2020
Passive and Active Fire Safety Seminar CPD October 2019
BOHS P402 Building Surveys & Bulk Sampling of Asbestos
CITB - Health & Safety for Managers & Professionals
Not all qualifications are essential, but the ideal candidate will hold a fire related qualification
Working hours:
37 hours per week (Monday – Friday)
Hybrid working (2/3 days in the office per week)
The client is open to part time options too
