Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a local authority, who are recruiting for a Commercial Contracts Lawyer on an initial 3-month locum basis. The position is due to start immediately, with both part-time and full-time applicants welcome. The hourly rate of pay is circa £50 per hour via an Umbrella company.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified Solicitor, and have experience working within local government previously, including managing high-value, complex commercial contracts.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing legal advice in regards to varied commercial contracts matters, initially focused on varied corporate/company work
  • Delivering successful outcomes on a wide range of projects, including major transformational development/regeneration works, construction, and creating trading companies and joint ventures
  • Reviewing a range of commercial contracts and providing extensive procurement advice to City Council departments, its officers and employees
  • Collaborating with government departments, national and regional public bodies and the private sector
  • Utilising the IKEN case management system

Experience required:

  • Experience required in Local Government
  • Previously managed high-value, complex commercial contracts
  • Qualified as a Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX would be desirable

Working hours:

  • Open to full-time and part-time applicants
  • Monday – Friday
