Job description

​Our client, based near to Cardiff is recruiting for a Temporary Accommodation Officer on a seven-month temporary basis.

The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis. The hourly rate for this role is circa £20.00 per hour via an Umbrella Company.

The ideal candidate will have experience working within Social Housing managing a portfolio of temporary accommodation and sustaining the tenancies of the residents.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Conducted regular property inspections of temporary accommodation to ensure compliance with local housing standards and council policies

  • Monitored and enforced Health and Safety legislation (Housing (Wales) Act 2014, Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016, and related statutory guidance) to maintain safe living environments

  • Assisted in completing and reviewing fire risk assessments in line with Welsh Fire Safety Regulations, ensuring appropriate mitigation measures were implemented

  • Liaised with contractors, landlords, and internal council teams to arrange repairs, maintenance, and remedial works following inspection findings

  • Responded promptly to tenant queries, complaints, and welfare concerns, providing advice and escalating safeguarding issues where necessary

  • Ensured properties met requirements relating to Gas Safety, Electrical Safety, Legionella, and Fire Safety obligations under Welsh housing law

  • Maintained accurate records of inspections, tenancy agreements, and compliance reports in accordance with GDPR and council procedures

  • Supported the delivery of emergency accommodation placements, balancing statutory duties under the Housing (Wales) Act 2014 with individual tenant needs

  • Promoted tenant awareness of occupier responsibilities, including fire safety, recycling, and reporting maintenance issues

Candidate Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS

  • A full driving license with access to own vehicle

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week

  • Monday - Friday, flexible start/finish times
