Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority based in the East Midlands, who are recruiting for a Surveyor (Voids & Responsive Repairs) on a temporary three month contract. The position is due to start immediately, with an hourly rate of pay at £30 per hour via an Umbrella company.

The ideal candidate will have experience delivering a responsive and void repairs service within a Social Housing setting and hold a full UK Driving License.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Undertaking inspections to Council owned property (both special rental and corporate property) whether tenanted or void

  • Diagnosing disrepair, issue works orders and monitor contractor performance in the execution of work

  • Planning and investigation of appropriate building products that can be recommended for use

  • Ensuring adherence to Health & Safety requirements around: FRA’s, asbestos, gas servicing, fixed wire electrical inspection, PAT testing, lift maintenance & other similar in the context of domestic and commercial premises

  • Specifically relating to voids, ensuring void pre and post inspections are undertaken in a timely manner and that contractor performance is monitored to ensure prompt turnaround times

  • Work within authorised budgets and to agreed quality standards

  • Proactively communicate with customers, internal or external, in line with agreed processes

  • Collate evidence to manage contractor performance

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications

  • A relevant construction qualification equivalent to HNC or higher, or a construction trade background

  • Full driving licence and access to a car

  • Ability to work in confined spaces, at height and use fall arrest systems with training

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week

  • Monday to Friday
