Job description

Our client, based in Berkshire, is currently recruiting for a Senior Democratic Services Officer, this role is available as both a temporary three month contract or a permanent contract.

The start date is negotiable and the contracted hours are 37.5 hour a week.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working in a Local Government setting, and will be able to commit to two - three days a week in office.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Servicing the allotted committees, panels and bodies to ensure that all meetings comply with relevant legislation, council constitution, practices and procedures

  • Contribute to the effective management and development of meeting work programmes and agenda planning, including managing the planning and delivery of work programmes, workloads and forwards plans

  • Compile agenda reports, minutes and notes and distribute to stake holders in a timely manner

  • Assist in the development of project work, working with colleagues to provide information and feedback

  • Keep abreast of development in Local Government administrative law and practice, driving continuous improvement in decision making process

Experience required:

  • Experience required in Local Government

  • Extensive Experience required in a Governance Officer Role

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Minute taking

  • Complex diary management

  • Agenda planning, co-ordination monitoring
