Job description

Our client, a large public sector organisation, is seeking an experienced Lead Solution Architect to drive their digital transformation strategy and shape their technical architecture capability.

About the Role

This is a senior technical leadership position reporting to the Head of Strategy, Architecture & Product. You will lead a small team of Solution Architects, oversee technical engineering resources across Agile Product Teams, and chair the Digital Design Authority (DDA).

You will define and maintain enterprise-level solution architecture across a diverse portfolio of services, supporting the adoption of Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform, and cloud-native tools. The role includes deputising at senior boards, influencing investment decisions, and providing assurance of supplier-led designs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Solution Architects and provide technical assurance across multiple Agile delivery teams
  • Own and evolve the strategic solution architecture framework and roadmap
  • Chair the Digital Design Authority (DDA) and govern solution-level architecture decisions
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Strategic Business Partners, and delivery partners
  • Drive scalable, secure and performant technical solutions aligned with business and user needs
  • Assure third-party architectural designs and manage supplier engagement
  • Support governance, cyber resilience, data architecture, and cloud optimisation
  • Champion a modern, product-based service model across IT and digital functions
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and architectural maturity

Essential Requirements

  • Significant experience in solution architecture with a track record in technical assurance
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure), Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform, and integration standards
  • Experience chairing or contributing to architectural governance boards
  • Ability to collaborate and influence senior stakeholders
  • Clear understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF), ITIL, and security-by-design principles
  • Passion for mentoring and building architectural capability in teams
