Job description
We are currently working in partnership with a Charity based in Neath/Port Talbot, who are recruiting for a Housing Support Worker for a permanent opportunity. The positions start date is subject to the candidates notice period.
The salary on offering is around £24,500 per annum, it is a full-time post but the client is open to part-time applications.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting vulnerable clients in their own homes and in the community, be comfortable lone-working and have a passion for supporting people.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Manage a caseload of 13 vulnerable clients with complex needs across Swansea and in their own homes
- Helping clients to sustain their tenancies and find move on accommodation
- Offering with welfare and benefits advice as well as giving support with general money management - monitor rent accounts
- Creating support plans and undertaking risk assessments
- Signposting client queries to the appropriate external agency such as the Police, Probation Services, Social Services and Local Authorities
- Assisting with tenancy management, low level anti-social behaviour complaints, rental arrears and more
- Work in partnership with housing management and maintenance to address housing management issues
Experience required:
- Provide support to vulnerable individuals (e.g., those experiencing homelessness, mental health issues, substance misuse, domestic abuse, or learning disabilities)
- Background in housing, supported accommodation, or tenancy sustainment, including knowledge of housing rights and responsibilities
- Worked within safeguarding frameworks and identifying/raising safeguarding concerns
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
- Proven ability to assess individual needs and develop person-centred support or action plans
- Ability to build positive, professional relationships with clients while setting clear boundaries
- Confident in managing challenging behaviours and crisis situations with empathy and resilience
- Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., Homelessness Reduction Act, Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, GDPR)

Working hours:
37 hours per week
Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm
