Job description
We are currently working in partnership with a Housing Association based in Bristol, who are recruiting for a Damp, Mould and Condensation Surveyor on a rolling six-month contract. The position is due to start immediately, with the potential to go full time. The hourly rate of pay is negotiable up to £35 via an Umbrella company.
The ideal candidate will have a wealth of social housing experience, a relevant building qualification such as HNC/HND and be within a commutable distance of Bristol.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Carrying out detailed inspections of properties to identify causes of damp, mould and condensation issues.
- Using moisture meters, hygrometers, borescopes, and other tools to gather evidence and diagnose problems accurately.
- Preparing clear and comprehensive survey reports with photographic evidence and recommended remedial actions.
- Liaising with tenants and residents to explain findings and provide advice on managing ventilation and humidity levels.
- Recommending and specifying appropriate repairs, treatments, or improvements (e.g. insulation upgrades, extractor fans, damp proofing).
- Working closely with maintenance teams, contractors, and housing officers to ensure timely and effective resolution of issues.
- Monitoring repeat cases and providing root-cause analysis to prevent recurring problems.
- Ensuring compliance with housing standards, legal requirements, and internal policies (e.g. HHSRS, Homes Act 2018, WHQS).
- Maintaining accurate records and updating systems following visits or investigations.
- Contributing to policy reviews and best practice around damp and mould management
Experience required:
- Experience required in Social Housing
- Experience working with customers within housing
Skills, qualifications and expertise required:
- HNC/HND qualification
- Compliance and due diligence
