Job description
Our client, based in Bedfordshire, is currently recruiting for a Housing Assessment & Advice Officer on a 3-month temporary contract.
The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis. The hourly rate is up to £30 per hour via an Umbrella Company.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing a caseload of homeless cases, making section 184 decisions and hold a DBS dated within the last 3 years.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Maintaining an up-to-date detailed knowledge of the organisation’s statutory homelessness duties, policies and protocols
Managing, prioritising and working a caseload effectively to assist customers by providing a professional and effective Housing Needs and Options assessment and advisory service
Ensuring that all enquiries for assessment are thorough and undertaken sensitively and professionally
Making prevention decisions are made in a timely manner (within 56 days or no more than 77 days) to prevent and relieve homelessness
Proactively engage and work with customers
Overseeing the implementation of personal housing plans - including assisting customers to access the private housing sector, the Housing Register or Supported People Housing when appropriate
Accurately recording casework notes to document enquiries and decision points
Writing and issuing bespoke notification letters for customers of all decisions in a timely manner
Experience required:
Experience required in Social Housing with up to date knowledge of relevant housing legislation
Experience advising homeless clients and making prevention decisions
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
Demonstrate a creative and innovative approach to problem solving including the ability to prioritise work
Ability to understand a range of clients with complex needs and external support agencies providing services for vulnerable people
Working hours:
37 hours per week
Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
