Job description
We are currently working in partnership with a Social Housing Association based in Dorset, who are recruiting for a Finance Head of Property Services.
The start date is flexible dependant on notice period and the salary on offer is £73k-£78k. The position is available on a full-time, hybrid basis.
The ideal candidate will be a member of a recognised accounting body with at least 5 years post qualification experience in relevant roles. They will also have experience in business partnering and stakeholder management with multiple senior directors both within and external to finance.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Leading the maintenance financial reporting team to ensure delivery of accurate and timely financial information
Business partnering with numerous key stakeholders, Directors and Heads of Service across the organisation to improve budget holders’ understanding of their progress year to date, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Translating the strategy as set out by the senior finance team into deliverable actions within the maintenance finance team to ensure the group achieves its overall corporate strategy
Contributing to and consulting on the overall group financial strategies
Producing monthly management accounts reports with commentary and present to senior directors
Managing the delivery of quarterly reforecasts for maintenance and production of reports including commentary to be delivered to group finance and CSOLT
Supporting the preparation of group cash flow forecasts for group treasury
Keeping abreast of financial, tax, and corporate governance developments across the sector from professional advisors and bodies as well as by liaising across your network within the sector
Experience required:
Strong technical accountant and member of a recognised professional accounting body with at least 5 years post qualification experience in relevant roles
Significant management accounts and business partnering experience is essential, demonstrating the ability to manage relationships with operational directors outside of finance
Business partnering and stakeholder management experience working with multiple senior directors both within and external to finance is essential
Social housing or commercial maintenance experience is desirable
Experience of managing and delivering budgeting and financial planning is essential as the role will be responsible for the budgeting and forecasting process for the group’s largest and most complex cost base
Staff management and team leadership experience is essential, demonstrating success managing, structuring, developing and conflict resolution within a team
Track record of identifying and implementing change, improving processes and systems
Strong all-round IT skills with expert level excel is essential. Experience with managing and developing specialist accounting and database software is desireable
Strong commercial acumen and a pragmatic approach
Ability to coach and develop colleagues and delegate accountability to encourage staff responsibility and engagement
