Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a local authority based in Cumbria, who are currently recruiting for a Democratic Services Officer to join the team for 3-months initially, with potential extension.

The role offers hybrid working, with attendance required at in-person committees, and the hourly rate is negotiable subject to experience.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing an efficient Democratic Services function, to enable all relevant individuals to fulfil their democratic duties and responsibilities, and to facilitate lawful, transparent and accessible decision making
  • Effectively planning and administering joint committees, audit committees, overview and scrutiny committees and advisory boards
  • Providing committee management solutions in accordance with statutory requirements and constitutional obligations
  • Advising officers, elected members, partner organisations and members of the public on the provisions of the legislation relating to local authority meetings and constitutional requirements
  • Producing minutes of meetings, ensuring an accurate record of decisions and key points of discussion were captured
