Job description

We are currently partnering with a Housing Association based in South East London, who are recruiting a Damp and Mould Operative to join their growing team on a permanent basis.

This is a full-time position with a salary of £38,000 and the start date is subject to notice.

A Trade apprenticeship and / or formal qualification such as City and Guilds (ideally advanced),

NVQ level 2 or equivalent is essential for the role.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Undertake repairs to Properties within their allocated area along with associated work as required, carrying out work required safely and in the most cost effective and efficient way
  • Responsible for identifying the cause of the fault and specifying the correct remedial work
  • Accountable for doing the work right first time and ensuring that the customer is satisfied with the visit
  • Responsible for the proper use and safekeeping of vehicles, plant, tools and materials
  • Responsible for carrying out work safely
  • Make repair and replace decisions using repairs policy and standards to decide the extent of work required to remedy the fault
  • Discuss and decide with the customer for carrying out the work, and for any follow-on work required, liaising from site with Area Scheduler /Supervisor
  • Dispose of unwanted materials and debris to registered waste transfer station, and leave the site clean and tidy
  • Investigate and find reported faults and diagnose the cause of the fault

Experience required:

  • Capable of working at heights and of using ladders safely
  • Demonstrates effective problem / fault solving to make correct decisions
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of health & safety requirements & experience of safe working systems, through work experience or a relevant qualification
  •  

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Trade apprenticeship and / or formal qualification such as C&G (ideally advanced),
  • NVQ level 2 or equivalent
  • Additional training to NVQ level 3 (Desired)
  • Current UK driving license
  • 2 years' experience of working as a professional tradesman and of performing related
  • ancillary work

Working hours:

  • 42.5 hours per week
