Job description

We are currently partnering with a Local Authority client in Wiltshire, who are recruiting for a Corporate Services Manager to oversee their Democratic Services function, on a fixed-term contract basis until March 2025.

This is a full-time position with a salary band of £40,000 to £50,000, and offers hybrid working.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Overseeing support services for committees, sub-committees, working groups and panels
  • Line managing the corporate services team
  • Deputising as Clerk to the Council at meetings and committees, as required
  • Providing information to prospective councillors and arranging induction of newly elected members
  • Delivering elected member’s administrative and organisational support, including in all aspects of statutory consultations, coordinating responses and recording outcomes
  • Coordinating with the Elections Authority in regards to any election processes
  • Accountable for the administration and organisational support for the Mayor and Deputy Mayor
  • Responsible for the administration and delivery of Civic Events to include the coordination of the services of the Ceremonial Officers
  • Overseeing effective value for money of corporate service level agreements including IT, internet, broadband and telephony support services, leading on developments and upgrades
  • Responsible for the management of Freedom of Information requests and complaints

Experience required:

  • Experience required in Local Government
  • Experience of people management
