Job description
We are delighted to be representing a University, based in London, who are looking to appoint a Commercial Legal Adviser on a permanent basis.
This is a full-time position, due to start in September and they can offer a starting salary of up to £51,525.
The client is looking for a newly qualified lawyer, or a non-qualified candidate with substantial experience in this field.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Undertaking contract casework on all areas of the University’s core business including but not limited to:
o student contracts
o domestic and international academic partnership contracts
o domestic and international research funding and collaboration
o apprenticeship agreements
o practice placement agreements
o international recruitment agent agreements
o consultancy agreements
o NDAs
o MOUs
o knowledge exchange agreements
o external hire and location agreements
o licensing agreements
o donation and volunteering agreements
o data sharing agreements and IT software agreements
Reviewing, advising, negotiating and drafting commercial terms and conditions, and other legal documents
Assisting the Legal Services Team by liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the correct information has been provided and to obtain outstanding information
Identifying contractual and practical risks and liabilities and proposing mitigation strategies
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
Experience at a law firm or in an in-house environment
Experience of contract drafting, review, interpretation and amendment, as well as advising on contractual documents
