Procurement Case Study: Southway Housing Trust

The challenge

After appointing someone into this position around six months prior, our client found themselves back on the market for this particular vacancy. Facing a difficult market and looking for a specific skillset and experience background, they felt they were struggling to find the right people for the role.

When partnering with other agencies they felt there was a lack of honesty and transparency in the recruitment process and found the role was sometimes being misrepresented to candidates which in turn was leading to unsuccessful applications.

How did we succeed?

Our sourcing strategy:

  • Sticking to James Andrews’ core values, particularly transparency, with both the client and our candidates - keeping everyone updated as to where we were with the process

  • Completed a comprehensive search on both active and passive candidates across a number of platforms with a significant focus on relevant sector experience and identifying junior talent looking to take their next step

A total of 15 candidates were contacted with three formally submitted for the role, all were interviewed and two were deemed appointable.

What were the results?

The successful candidate wasn’t actively seeking a new position when we first spoke with her. After being offered the role she decided to accept has been in post for just under 6 months. She is getting on great and when we caught up with her she told us she was delighted with her decision.

Key successes:

  • Time between vacancy registration and successful candidate submission: one day

  • Ideally suited candidate sourced

Client Testimonial:

''We had struggled to recruit to a Procurement Officer and when I approached James Andrews. Olivia was great. She listened, understood what we needed for the role and was transparent about the market and the candidates that would be interested. Our new Procurement Officer has been in place for a couple of months and has been a fantastic addition to the team.”
