Finance Client Case Study: Selwood Housing

Back to Blogs
The challenge

Our client was looking for an experienced Finance Team Lead to support them on a temporary basis whilst they carried out a recruitment drive for a permanent candidate. They required someone with a strong background in Accounts Payable, experience managing payroll for 300 staff members and a proven tack record in team leadership.#

This combination of requirements, alongside a tight candidate pool in their geographical location, created a niche candidate specification.

How did we succeed?

Our sourcing strategy;

  • Identification of essential vs. non-essential elements of the person specification to maximise the candidate pool

  • Highlighting Selwood’s ‘unique selling points’ which would resonate with experienced candidates

  • A broad search of active and passive professionals using a multi-resource approach

  • A dynamic advertising campaign on jobs boards with a proven track record in Accounts Payable professionals resourcing

A total of 32 candidates were contacted within a 24-hour period producing a longlist of two applicants, one of which was progressed to interview.

What were the results?

Following a successful interview phase, we secured a well-suited candidate whose transferrable skills and behaviors blended well with the team and key deliverables.

Key successes:

  • Time between vacancy registration and successful candidate submission: 25 hours

  • Ideally suited candidate sourced

  • Candidate gave excellent feedback on the role and Selwood Housing once in post

“They clearly understand their market very well, going above and beyond to qualify candidates, when so many others simply rely on searching for buzzwords.”
