Job description
Our client, based in Portsmouth, is currently recruiting for a Temporary Accommodation Support Worker on a 6-week temporary contract (with scope for extension).
The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis. The hourly rate is negotiable based on experience.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with vulnerable adults, hold an enhanced DBS taken out within the last three years and have access to their own vehicle.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
· Managing a caseload of 14-18 clients
· Completing initial assessments, risk assessments, and regularly reviewing support plans in partnership with service users
· Providing practical advice and support with setting up benefits, budgeting, and debt management
· Identifying and addressing barriers to sustaining accommodation through tailored action plans and life skills support
· Conducting regular property checks to ensure appropriate use of temporary housing and identifying needs around tenancy and home management
· Supporting home management skills by helping service users develop essential life skills such as budgeting, cleaning, meal planning, and managing utility bills to promote independent living
· Coordinating referrals for additional support by identifying unmet needs and signposting to external services, including mental health, substance misuse, and domestic abuse support
· Liaising with social services and external agencies, working collaboratively with social workers and partners to ensure a joined-up approach to support and safeguarding
· Reviewing progress, updating support plans, and adjusting interventions in line with changing needs to promote resilience and long-term stability

· Experience working with people with complex needs
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
· Good organisational and time management skills
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
· Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team
· Risk assessment and management
· Experience of supporting vulnerable people or groups
