Adult Social Care Lawyer
Job description
We are currently partnering with a London Borough, who are recruiting for an ASC Lawyer to join their team on a three-month rolling contract.
This role is looking to start w/c 30th June on a full-time basis and they can offer remote working with an office presence required once a month.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Assisting the Adult & Education Teams with both complex matters and Advocacy both in the Court of Protection and Education Tribunal, in respect of SEN matters
Handling all COP applications, OR, s29 MHA applications and providing general legal advice
Handling a varied caseload, to include Safeguarding; Adult & Child Protection; Mental Health; Judicial Review; Paying for Care; NHS CHC Funding; Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards; S117 After Care; Mental Capacity Act Assessments; Learning Disabilities; No Recourse to Public Funds; Court of Protection Advocacy; Litigation; Human Rights; SEN; Education Law
Encompassing general advice and assistance to the senior social services staff and crossed over with children’s service in relation to child/adult transition
Working a varied workload consisted of DOLS COP11 applications, s21A objections and oral hearings, COP Applications for MCA decisions, Ordinary Residence Disputes, general legal matters surrounding all aspects of Adult Community Services and Education Law, in particular SEN and Admission matters
Experience required:
Previous experience working within Local Government or Legal Firm with local government clients
Be able to undertake and manage a large caseload of Adult Social Care matters
To undertake all of the responsibilities with minimal managerial support and able to work in a sole capacity
Must be a qualified solicitor
Working hours:
Full time (35-42 hours a week)
Monday to Friday but can offer condensed hours
