Technical Officer - Disrepair, Damp & Mould
Job description
Our client, based in the Midlands, is currently seeking two Technical Officers specialising in Disrepair, Damp & Mould, one on a 3-month temporary contract and the other on a 9-month contract.
The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis with an hourly rate between £35 - £40 via an umbrella company.
The ideal candidate will have recent experience of working in a local authority or housing association, dealing with disrepairs, as well as identifying cause and providing solutions. These positions are to help prepare the service in response to Awaab’s law coming in later this year.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Responding to initial claims of disrepair and ensuring accurate and up to date records are kept throughout the course of the case
Investigating and inspecting properties where disrepair and/or high-level cases of damp and mould have been identified
Using technical expertise to specify and analyse repair work required to rectify defects and damp and mould cases
Liaising with contractors and agree a work plan, schedule of work and any specialist contracting arrangements, as required
Reviewing contractor quotations and schedule of rates to prevent exploitation and manipulation of contracts and schedules
Ensuring that all works are carried out to a high standard and completion dates agreed with the contractor are adhered to, and any extension of time is approved in accordance with internal policies
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
Knowledge of Awaab’s law
Recent experience of working in a local authority or housing association
Extensive experience of handling disrepair claims, scheduling works and providing a high quality and efficient service
Working hours:
37 hours per week
Monday – Friday
