Job description
Our client, based in Hampshire, is currently recruiting for a Surveyor on a three to six month temporary contract.
The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis. The hourly rate is £30-£35 per hour, direct limited. This role is outside IR35.
The ideal candidate will have experience within a similar position, experience within a local authority and have access to their own vehicle.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Supporting the Project Manager and being responsible for the delivery of programmed maintenance projects to the organisation’s property assets
Leading and managing multiple investment projects using effective contract and budget management
Supervising projects during the contract works phase, including any Clerk of Works employed on the project, ensuring the contractor achieves the agreed contract and quality performance measures
Ensuring customers are always informed of issues and progress
Carrying out inspections on site of materials to ensure and verify compliance with the contract specification and that any variations are valid
Undertaking surveys of buildings for structural defects, fire damage, disrepair and property purchase reports
Recording results of surveys, preparing and producing detailed reports outlining a schedule and specification of repair/remedial works with recommendations and budget costs
Preparing detailed specifications and schedules of works, producing all documentation required to undertake effective procurement exercises
Undertaking Access Audits to communal areas and prepare detailed reports to identify compliance with DDA requirements
Utilising the stock condition database, identify and develop a long-term survey programme to ensure surveys are prioritised in accordance with stock investment requirements
Experience required:
Experience required in Social Housing
Experience working with customers within housing
Experience working within a Local Authority
Experience working with damp and mould and disrepair
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
Risk assessment and management
Compliance and due diligence
Knowledge of the Social Housing sector
Knowledge of disrepair
Experience of surveying buildings and specifying remedial works
Ability to instruct, supervise and communicate with customers and contractors
Ability to draft well-constructed and professional letters/reports
Working hours:
37 hours per week
Monday – Friday
