Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a high performing, community-connected award-winning Housing Association, who are looking to appoint a Surveying Manager on a temporary contract.

The role is based in Surrey and is 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday 9-5). The role offers hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days from home.

The contract is until the end of September 2024 with possibility of extension and the rate of pay is negotiable dependent on experience.

The ideal candidate will have Worked in the social housing maintenance sector, either client or contractor side and will have led teams, and planning work schedules including the deployment of appropriate resources.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Being responsible for managing the surveying function, ensuring effective resource planning and allocation to ensure adequate resources are in place to deliver programmes effectively

  • Leading, Managing and motivating a team of multi-disciplined surveyors to deliver a comprehensive service to tenant and leasehold residents

  • Developing and sustaining strategic relationships with our key partners in delivering a resident focused programme for the day-to-day operational delivery of responsive repairs, voids, compliance, planned and cyclical programmes in accordance with contractual specification and quality

  • Contributing to the management of delivery to ensure statutory obligations in relation to fire risk, legionella, asbestos, gas, electric lifts, fire protection, CDM and estate safety

  • Acting as the primary surveying lead on all operational building surveying and maintenance related services

  • Providing professional and technical advice on construction and building maintenance

Experience required:

  • Excellent knowledge of social housing repairs and maintenance, construction methods

  • and building regulations

  • Led teams, and planning work schedules including the deployment of appropriate resources

  • Gained knowledge & experience of landlord responsibilities, construction & housing

  • health and safety

  • Worked in the social housing maintenance sector, either client or contractor side

  • Managed Housing Condition Claims (Disrepair)

  • Budget management experience

  • Having worked to Decent Homes requirements

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Educated to minimum HNC level or equivalent professional experience / qualification

  • Appropriate surveying qualifications/relevant qualification in line with progression

  • framework

  • Member of RICS or CIOB (desirable)

  • Degree in building surveying or similar qualification (desirable)

  • CIH Level 5 Certificate (desirable)
