Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a prestigious charitable organisation based in Birmingham, who are recruiting for a Support Worker in a full time position on a temporary three-month contract. The position is due to start immediately.

The hourly rate of pay is negotiable up to £17.00 per hour via an Umbrella company

The ideal candidate will have experience working with vulnerable adults and homelessness, and hold an Enhanced DBS within the last three years. Access to your own vehicle is desirable.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Responsible for providing support to a caseload of up to 10 vulnerable adults across Birmingham City Centre
  • Providing information and guidance to customers with complex needs (including homelessness), providing outreach support
  • Liaising with temporary accommodation providers about availability and signposting customers to their services
  • Liaising with external agencies specialising in homelessness, mental health and substance misuse
  • Assisting service users with welfare benefit entitlements, providing advice for support
  • Offering support with phone calls and arranging food parcels for suitable service users
  • Ensuring the service is kept a calm and safe place for clients


Experience required:

  • Experience in housing related support
  • Experience working with customers with complex needs
  • Experience providing support to service users at risk of homelessness

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Risk assessment and support plans
  • Signposting to external agencies
  • Housing claims and applications

Working hours:

  • 30 hours per week
  • Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4.00pm
