Job description

We are currently working in partnership with on of the most recognisable homeless charities in London.

They are currently recruiting for a Support Worker on a 3-month temporary contract. The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis. They will pay a competitive hourly rate dependent on experience.

The client is looking for an empathic individual with excellent communications skills and an understanding of the challenges facing people who are homeless.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing support to a caseload of clients across South East London

  • Responding to referrals to the service

  • Carrying out assessments on clients after referrals have been made

  • Helping tenants settle into their new accommodation, providing assistance with bills and welfare advice

  • Helping client sign up to GPs

  • Providing tenancy sustainment advice, ensuing clients are following tenancy agreements and create plans to retain newly obtained or current accommodation

Skills, knowledge and experience required:

  • Previous experience working with people who are homeless and have complex needs

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Good organisational and time management skills

  • Awareness of and ability to comply with relevant health and safety legislation

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Working hours:

  • 35 hours per week

  • Monday - Friday 09:00 – 17:00
