Our client, a Local Authority based in the North West, is currently recruiting for a Strategic Finance Consultant on a 3 – 6 month initial contract.

The position is due to start in April on a full-time basis with a negotiable daily rate of c.£750 inside IR35. Infrequent travel will be required to the office dependent on business needs

The ideal candidate must be qualified and have relevant experience in a similar role managing the MTFS process.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Supporting the Deputy Section 151 Officer in managing the development and ongoing co-ordination of the Council’s Medium Term Financial Strategy
• Deputising for the D.151 Officer as required
• Supporting planning and accounting for the Collection Fund and associated local taxation
• Ensuring effective financial reporting is in place, encouraging best practice and introducing innovative ways of working
• Reviewing and updating financial planning processes and procedures to ensure they are robust and appropriate
• Ensuring core financial systems are being effectively managed, implementing controls and process as required
• Supporting the Council on its business partnering and financial improvement journey
• Ensuring timely and effective reporting to Central Government and others
• Providing advice and guidance on the above and any other technical issues as required

Experience required:

• Extensive experience working within Local Authorities
• Previous experience managing the MTFS process

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

• CCAB qualification is essential

Working hours:

• 5 days per week
• Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
